Come explore the trails of Black River State Forest. Established in 1957, the Black River State Forest encompasses approximately 68,000 acres of public land in Jackson County Wisconsin. The landscape is largely due to glaciation during the Ice Age which is responsible for the formation of the buttes, hills, knolls, ridges and pediments that can be found in the forest. Scenic overlooks can be found at several locations along the trails that run through woodlands and rolling terrain.
